In 1989, Central Slate Records in Bangor, North Wales (run by Fflaps' Alan Holmes) released this wonderful EP. The 12-inch slab contained six songs by a boy/girl duo called Pop Negatif Wastad, produced by Gorwel Owen.
Gareth Potter ( ex-Traddodiad Ofnus) and Esyllt Lord (Crisialau Plastig) created something truly unique and special a mix of original material and cover versions ( Valium by Ffa Coffi Pawb, and Kerosene by Big Black)

According to Gareth Potter ' Esyllt and me started discussing recording songs together and Esyllt persuaded Gorwel Owen to let us come and record a weekend session over at the OFN studio.

In the blink of an eye - Pop Negatif Wastad turned from being a fantasy into being a real life pop reality!

We were determined to create a kind of pop music that had never been heard in Waes before - if you listen to the record you can hear the influences and ideas all over it - Abba, Ffa Coffi Pawb,Acid House,Disco,Punk, Dub Reggae,Pet Shop Boys and East European literature.l

Yn ol Gareth Potter - 'nath Esyllt a fi ddechra son am recordio caneuon gyda'n gilydd. Fe berswadiodd Esyllt i Gorwel Owen i adael i ni ddod i stiwdio Ofn ryw penwythnos i neud sesiwn.

Ac o fewn chwinciad roedd Pop Negaitf Wastad yn fwy na jest ffantasi.

Roeddem i am greu pop nas glywyd ei fath o'r blaen yng Nghymru - ac os wyt ti'n gwrando ar y record, mae'r syniadau a dylanwadau i gyd yna: Abba, Ffa Coffi Pawb, Acid House, Disco, Punk, Dub Reggae, Pet Shop Boys,a llenyddiaeth Dwyrain Ewrop.'
